Pre and Post Award Adminstration Tony Boccanfuso 15 Jul 1996 18:22 EST

I know that there has ben a prior discussion about how different
universities configure their pre and post award administration
responsibilities but I was hoping to gain some more reponses by sending out
the request again. Specifically I am interested in hearing from
institutions with less than $10M in sponsored activity. Here at BGSU, the
Office of Sponsored Programs and Research is a pre-award office that also
provides input to post-award policy issues when asked; the actual
disbursements, rebudgetting changes, and enforcement of state and federal
policy is overseen by the Grants Accounting Office which reports to the
Treasurer (we report to the VP Acad Affairs).

We are presently having thoughtful discussions regarding the shifting of
some of the Grants Accounting functions to this office. Any experiences,
pro or con, regarding this issue will be appreciated.
