Grants/Contracts Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Grants/Contracts Manager will assist the
Director of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs in managing
the externally sponsored grants and contracts activity of the University.
The Grants/Contracts Manager will serve as a member of a team of
professional and support staff who provide university-wide leadership
in the development and administration of research and sponsored programs.
Established in 1804, Ohio University's total external support for research
and other sponsored activities exceeded $30 million in 1995.  These
activities cover the full range of disciplines represented by the
University's seven colleges and other programmatic units, with
strengths in the life sciences and biotechnology, engineering, and
the physical sciences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position assists the Director in
administering the grants management operation for the University,
including the preparation of applications, negotiation of contracts,
and post-award compliance.  The Grants/Contracts Manager will report
to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidates for the position must hold a bachelor's
degree; masters degree preferred.  A minimum of 2 years of experience
in administration is required, preferably in a university setting.
Experience as a funded-project director or in grant or project
management or administration is preferred.  The position requires a
broad arts and sciences background and some knowledge of the basic
principles of contracting and budgeting for project support.
Experience using Microsoft Excel or Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheets and
computer database packages is preferred.
