students/intellectual design Becky H. Patterson 13 Oct 1995 13:23 EST

I know we recently discussed some of this, but I'm afraid I
didn't follow very closely. Now this problem has come up here.
Can anyone let me know how to get to the old messages? Or your
help here would be appreciated.

First, let me set the context. At USL, we have an industrial
design program through which advanced undergraduate students
become involved in a preceptorship. Within the preceptorship,
the students along with the faculty undertake product design
or enhancement for and with participating companies.

Our question is, what policies and procedures do you have in
place regarding intellectual property ownership and patents
on the students' designs? If you have some, will you share
them?

Thanks in advance.
