Faculty pay while on sabbatical anthony boccanfuso 08 Aug 1995 13:51 EST

I have a question regarding a faculty member who was scheduled to receive
70% of his salary from a sabbatical. This faculty member was able to
secure an IPA with the Air War College - the Air War College is
reimbursing our institution for 100% of his time - i.e. full pay during
this period of his sabbatical. Since he has an IPA, there is no need for
him to receive his sabbatical pay - HOWEVER he is arguing that he should get
his 70% PLUS his pay from the IPA.

Other than exceeding cap on pay from a grant or a contract, is there any
other reg that can be cited that would prevent this from occurring? It
obviously violates the "spirit" of the sabbatical and the IPA but I need
something more concrete - he is being incredibly forceful is pursuing
this issue.

Would the fact that he would be enhancing his salary solve problem?

Any insight you could provide would be helpful. . .

Thanks - Tony
