Re: Signature Authority Barbara Gray 06 Feb 1995 09:51 EST

When I came to the College of Charleston, I just assumed I had this
signatory authority. I have signed all sorts of things in the past two
years without question or problem. The only time I secure the President's
signature is when the sponsor very specifically requires the signature of
the CEO or if it is a particularly large or important project and having
the President's signature is smart politically. I think Directors should
have full signatory authority since we probably have the most knowledge of
anyone in our institutions of what is signable and what is not. I would
hate to think of how much I would be bogged down--and how much more
difficult it would be to keep track of the paper flow--if I had to send
every little agreement, supplement, modification, etc. up through the
channels.
