Hello!

It is my experience that research and sponsored programs people should
report to the Academic Administration of a university. At UMD I report to
the Associate Vice Chancellor directly and indirectly to the Vice
Chancellor, who reports to the Chancellor. I think it is also important
to have a liaison with the Development Office. At UMD, we have
established a Development Council which meets formally every other month,
but informally, we keep continuous contact, especially with regard to
foundation and corporate matters. So far, this works well for us.
