Greetings to all. I thought you might be interested in a training
initiative that is being undertaken by DORCISS in the UK (The
Association of Directors of Research Centres in the Social Sciences).
The UK Economic and Social Research Council has funded a
consultant for DORCISS to initiate a programme of management
development for research centres in the social sciences, involving
the development of model management training strategies for centres
and the design of pilot training programmes. Directors' and
administrators' requirements are under examination. RAG (Research
Administrators Group) is meeting with the consultants shortly.

The work is underway at the moment. Three newsletters will be
produced to report on its progress, and the final recommendations
will be out in 1995.

Much of what is recommended is likely to be relevant to other
disciplines and other categories within the broad constituency of
research administration.
