Summer benefits and student stipends Deborah A. Epps 18 Aug 1994 14:51 EST

Marquette University generally budgets the same fringe benefit rate for summer
salaries as for academic year. What is actually charged to a grant for fringe
is the actual cost of the fringe whether it is academic year or summer.
Generally for summer the actual fringes are FICA, TIAA/CREF, workers' comp. It
a grant budget is really tight for funds, the faculty member can budget the
estimated actual cost of the fringe benefits.

We have four "official" levels for Research Assistants. Those levels
correspond to the levels for Teaching Assistants. We do, however, allow
faculty to use other than the "official" levels, depending upon the
responsiblities of the Research Assistant and the amount of available funding.
