Hmm, since a Professor Emeritus has all the rights and privleges of a
regular faculty member, they should be able to be a PI of a project. My
concern involves a recent audit finding in which the auditors determined
more precisely questioned whether a faculty member could be a PI on a
project without reflecting effort on his/her A-21 report. How can you be
PI if you're not working on the p[roject? The istuation involved a
faculty member supported 100% on grant A who was supervising a post-doc
supported on Grant B from the same agency. The problem would be the same
for an emeritus faculty member - no salary, therefore no A21, therefore no
effort on the project. Just another thing to think about - I don't have a
solution.
