At Coastal Carolina Univ. we try to provide editing (or at least proof
reading) IF the faculty member gets the proposal to us "on time." We
ask for 5 working days. We will proof, edit to the best of our ability,
and get back to the faculty for them to make changes. Sometimes they give us
a disk and we make the changes, but we won't send it out without their
rereading and approving our changes. Meanwhile we can also do all the
other things - checking budgets, getting necessary authorizations, and
making copies. All too often though (and I know this never happens anywhere
else) we only get 1 or 2 days, which pretty much limits us to "the basics."

Whenever we submit a proposal the PI get a memo listing what was done, and
noting, if we had <5 days, what wasn't done. An xc goes to the Dept Ch.
and Dean, so they know too.
