Terry May's news clipping reminds me of the good work of the National
Biomedical Research Institute (NBRI) which has useful information on
the "marketing" of animal use in research to the public.
As well, I think that NIH produced a good video a few years back which
deals sensitively with this issue. The NIH film points to examples where
people have been saved by drugs or devices originally tested in animals.
Perhaps folks can get copies from OPRR at NIH. I think that the scales
are generally tipped against animal research: I notice more and more
products being advertised with the claim that "this product was not
tested in animals." Hmmmmmm.
