Do any of you folks have a formailzed (sorry about that)
procedure for working with non-faculty types who want
to pursue funding for research or project development?
I am thinking primarily about those underloved and underutilized
people in college towns who are acadmically trained (like
spouses, medical types, counseling types, clergy maybe) and might
qualify for a faculty gig, but are not employees of your
university. Most college towns have a bunch of these folks who
might not be looking for a full-time slot, but would like to keep
their lines of inquiry alive and could possibly successfully
compete for funding through the university.
I admit there are a lot of issues here--liabilities, use of the
university name, crazies (those not currently on faculty), and
more. But there are also some possiblities.
I'd appreciate your comments.
