I guess I do get involved with private funders at times and will, with great non-phenotypic effort, be congenial, appreciative, and compliant.  Blue ink on 100% recycled paper?  No problem!   However, it's those funders who require 4 Dean-level signatures on a nomination letter in Nov and again on a pre-application in Jan with a true application deadline in March that are a challenge.

Charlie,

In small "shops" we often do. Anything that has to do with faculty and academic programs goes through Sponsored Programs. I work closely with development on those occasions.
