NSF Direct Pay Fellowships Carolyn Crowell 02 Oct 2012 17:43 EST

Dear Colleagues,

Has anyone had the pleasure of dealing with a NSF fellowship paid directly to the fellow? If so, would you be willing to share how your institution handles research related expenses such as travel, supplies and publication costs for the fellow? Or, is it up to the fellow to manage?

Apparently NSF does not want to establish a relationship with the host institution. A fellowship allowance of $15,000 is paid as a lump sum via electronic deposit with the first stipend payment made to the fellow.

Thanks for your input.

Carolyn
