We use the expenditures end date. We set it at 60 day after the last day of the month that the grant ends. (so if ED is Aug 25, the expenditure end date will be Oct 31) We set the Termination date to 90 days out, which allows ORSP to make changes after 60 days but the department's transactions are blocked.

HOWEVER: there are some document feeds, like payroll, that will over ride the system and there is nothing that we can do to prevent it.

Subject: [RESADM-L] Banner (Freezing accounts)

I am curious if anyone has used the feature in Banner that states "Expenditure End Date." Our current financial system allows expenditures to charge to grants after the end date of the grant unless the grant is inactivated. I am currious how other banner institutions manage this issue.

Recently in error not by the immediate grant admin, salary was charged to a grant that had ended two years ago. I am aware that this grant should have been inactivated then, but I guess there were some issues which I am not aware of.

Please feel free to contact me off line.

Thanks,
Bonnie
