The Assistant Director will be responsible for providing support to the Director in overseeing the day-to-day functions of the Office of Sponsored Research revolving around timely submission of complex grant applications in accordance with agencies' regulations, ensuring a uniform standard of quality and values. He/she will assist with the development and review of grant budgets and proposals. This individual will be required to interact with a variety of stakeholders including investigators, collaborating institutions, administrators and funding agency personnel. Therefore, excellent communication skills are essential.

The successful candidate will:

- Possess and apply a complete understanding of all principles and procedures involved in processing a grant application

- Possess a working knowledge of agency rules and regulations

- Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and to prioritize and to make logical decisions based on available information

- Be fully competent in all Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook with a working knowledge of basic database language and architecture

- Posess strong mathematical and analytical skills

- Be able to interpret sometimes complex and/or contradictory grant application regulations and deal effectively with ambiguity

- Possess excellent organizational skills and time management skills

- Be able to delegate and review work of other professionals in office in a collegial fashion.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field required; An advanced degree, such as an M.B.A., is preferred. Three years experience in Grants and Contract Administration strongly preferred.
