Thank you! Whenever I work with people who are "writing a grant," I try to gently correct them that they are writing a proposal for a grant. Drives me crazy!

Yes, regarding your question to those in English language land: the expression "write a grant" bugs me, as does the job title "Grant Writer." (makes me want to break into song to the tune of "I'm a Girl Watcher" ... "I'm a grant writer. I'm a grant writer. Watchin' forms go by... My, oh my my..."
