Hello,

I have heard it argued that if the conference is related to the grant and the PI is presenting findings from work done under the grant, that the expenses are allowable even though the conference takes place outside the grant period. The conference expenses are obviously paid for within the grant period.

Would be interested to hear what others say.

Can't speak to 2 -- no experience with 2nd NCE with DOE.

Good morning,

I have a couple questions related to an International Education and Graduate Program Services grant funded by the US Department of Education.

1. The PI would like to incur costs for a conference in August which is related to this grant now; however, the grant ends on June 30th of this year. My gut is telling me that this is not okay, but I would greatly appreciate your insight into this as well.

2. Also, in that same breath, has anyone asked for a 2nd no-cost extension from the Department of Education. If so, would you mind providing me with some feedback as to how well that went? Also, if you have any advice for that process I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your guidance,
Melinda
