I want to update our financial conflict of interest policy and program. Does any one have any checklists they wouldn't mind sharing with me. Specifically, I am looking for checklists:
1. to aid in monitoring & evaluating compliance of program
2. to aid in determining if a conflict exist

Any input is greatly wanted and appreciated. Please reply to xxxxxx@unthsc.edu

The DUNS number is free ... but, is an organization required to purchase
any services from Dunn & Bradstreet in order to prevent any unauthorized
changes to the organizational information linked with that number?

Neal,

I work in an Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (pre-award), our office does not provide any assistance to faculty with their reporting requirements. Our office will submit the report on behalf of the faculty member when needed.

Our post-award office prepares all of the financial reports related to grants and contracts, however, technical or narrative reports are the responsibility of the PI.

Good afternoon,

I've been asked to see what other Departmental Research offices do to help PIs develop and submit annual reports to sponsors. Do you help the PI with the technical report? Financial report? Are you involved at all or do you let your university's Office of Sponsored Programs handle everything.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Lenora,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my email. We're trying to get a handle on what other institutions are doing with regards to sponsor annual reports. So far it's been about 50-50 -- some offices provide assistance (technical and financial reports) while others just do the financial.

Thanks once again.

From: Carolyn Elliott-Farino <xxxxxx@KENNESAW.EDU>
Subject: NSF annual reports

We had a message from a PI today, concerned that she would have to submit
progress reports for her two grants before she would be able to submit
another proposal. (Both reports are now “due” but will not be “overdue”
until August and September.) A colleague at a state university (not here in
Georgia) reported this to her. This is part of her message:

It seems that the NSF systems will not accept proposals from PIs who are due
with their progress reports; the progress reports should be submitted and
approved by the program officer before a PI should be able to submit other
proposals to NSF. Are you aware of something like that?

I’ve explained to her that NSF starts calling for annual progress reports 90
days out and that the reports can be submitted any time in that 90 day
window, but I was wondering if this could be true for reports that are
overdue. Would FastLane not accept a proposal from a PI who was late on a
progress report?

Thanks.
