Fee Schedules for Services Provided by Vivariums Ashley Turbeville 17 Feb 2010 18:27 EST

Hello Grants Administrators:

The College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama has a vivarium. The vivarium charges a fee for their services. All departments (College of Medicine or Non-College of Medicine (Academic departments)) are charged the same fee for services provided.

Can you please tell me if any institutions have a tiered fee schedule for vivarium services provided? If so, are Non-College of Medicine (i.e. academic departments) charged a higher fee than College of Medicine departments? If the answer to this question is yes can you please advise the reason. For example, does your College of Medicine retain all indirect costs recovered from grants and these funds are used to supplement the vivarium? In addition, do you receive Non-College of Medicine recovered indirect costs to supplement the vivarium?

Your answers to these questions are very much appreciated.
