Re: NIH proposal submission: using Co-Investigator Mokry, Gloria 01 Feb 2010 13:15 EST

You might want to double check the new guidelines for the SF 424 because they were doing away with the Co-PI because this not a recognized role and they were to include the Co-Investigator role, which you might be able to use.

NIH does not recognize "Co-PI" "Co-Investigator"; therefore, you must select
"Other" put the Co-Investigator in "Other Role Category" as indicated by
NIH.

Subject: [RESADM-L] NIH proposal submission: using Co-Investigator

When submitting a proposal with co-investigators (with a single PI), has any
one used the drop down menu for the Co-Investigator from the new Adobe form
version B? Does it cause any error or warning, or you chose to go with the
following instruction, which worked for the Adobe form version A.

If you are submitting an application reflecting Multiple PD/PIs, all such
individuals must be assigned the PD/PI role, even those at organizations
other than the applicant organization. The role of "Co-PD/PI" is not
currently used by NIH and other PHS agencies. Do not assign any individual
this role. If applicants wish to use the role of "Co-Investigator" or some
other similar role, select "Other" for the Project Role field and then
insert the appropriate role descriptor in the Other Project Role Category
field.

Thank you for sharing.
