Re: Fed Reporting Excel Templates Seamus Boshell 21 Sep 2009 10:08 EST

Here's is a copy of my discussion this morning with Dawn. (I made a typo
calling myself NIH and MA : ) )

So, basically, the best option is to use Version 1.3, and hope it will be fine for
October 1st. Dawn said it "should be fine" but wouldnt guarantee.

Also there is no way to paste into Award description, though maybe that
would be fixed in the final version??

As regards reporting financials, there is a suggestion to report the financials
as of late Sep, and catch up at the next reporting

Dawn: Welcome to our live chat service.

Dawn: May I have your Funding Agency and State?

NIH and MA: NIH and MA

NIH and MA: My question is whether we can use the current template version
1.1 for upload on Oct 1,

Dawn: There is an updated version, 1.3 available now.

NIH and MA: YEs, thanks. We have pre-filled version 1.1. Will that work? Also,
there was a suggestion that these templates, 1.3etc, would be replaced by a
new template on Oct 1. Is that true?

Dawn: The final version of the excel spreadsheet will be available October 1st.

NIH and MA: Yes but will the current versions be acceptable to upload? We
are currently completing these now. This is a question a lot of recipients have
now. Can the current templates be used to upload on Oct 1

Dawn: You can try the validation, it should work.

Dawn: I can not tell you whether or not version 1.3 will work for reporting
since excel spreadsheet is still updating.

NIH and MA: The validation did work for 1.1

Dawn: I understand, however we do not have that information as the excel
spreadsheet is still updating.

NIH and MA: There seems to be some confusion about whether the current
versions can be used for October reporting. This is a response from Gina your
helpdesk: "I just had an exchange with Dominique at the help desk on
FederalReporting.gov. She told me the current version CAN be used."

NIH and MA: Sorry, that was a response from Dominique not Gina.

Dawn: You should be able to use the current version of 1.3, however the
templates are still being updated until October 1st.

NIH and MA: Thanks. So we should be able, but you can't guarantee it, even
if version 1.3 is validated?

Dawn: That is correct.

NIH and MA: Could i ask another question. We are unable to copy and paste
into the award description field, since it is locked. Is there a way to unlock
the field and copy and paste?

Dawn: No there is not, I do apologize. By copying and pasting into the
spreadsheet, it is recognizing that as "modifying" and it will not allow for the
spreadsheet to be modified.

NIH and MA: Ok, thanks. Perhaps this will be corrected in the final version?
