Re: Fed Reporting Excel Templates Lesley Zajac 22 Sep 2009 10:03 EST

The version I have, which I downloaded on 8/18/09, is labeled Version 1.1. Should I assume that this version has now been superseded??? This is really annoying.

This is so frustrating. Last week I had a conversation where they assured me that version 1.3 could be used to submit, but after received this email I went back online. Unfortunately, I got the same response as you, Diana (pasted below). It seems like you can validate version 1.3 but that you won't be able to submit it.

Dawn: May I have your Funding Agency and State?
Simone Alpen: Hi Dawn.
Simone Alpen: I chatted with someone last week (ticket #128382) and I got confirmation that version 1.3 of the Excel template would be ok for submission for October 1.
Simone Alpen: But, I heard from a colleague that they received a different response from someone else at Federalreporting.gov.
Simone Alpen: They mentioned that the Excel templates currently available are only models and that you'd get errors if they were submitted. (We are trying to prep for the deadline by pre-filling a lot of the required data elements).
Simone Alpen: Can you please tell me if filling out the current available Excel file will be accepted for submission on/after Oct 1?
Dawn: I understand, I apologize for the conflicting information you are receiving. I will check to get this clarified for you.
Simone Alpen: Thanks
Dawn: At this time, the final version will be available by October 1st.
Simone Alpen: So anything pre-filled in the current available versions will not work?
Dawn: When version are you currently using?
Simone Alpen: 1.3
Dawn: The information I just received is that the final version will be available October 1st, you can validate version 1.3 for errors or compliance.
Simone Alpen: Ok---thanks

Aggravated is right! I knew it didn't sound right and even asked Rick to check to be sure he was telling me right. He came back and assured me he was right. I won't be chatting with them anymore, since I can't trust what is said.

Now, back to my original problem--has anyone been able to unlock the spreadsheet to cut/paste the description info??

To all aggravated ARRA-reporting members,

I just had an exchange with Dominique at the help desk on FederalReporting.gov. She told me the current version CAN be used. Like many of you, we have already downloaded and pre-filled the forms. What a absolute pain it would be to have to start all over on October 1!

Leslie, I hope this gives you some relief and allows you to focus on your son's wedding.

This is unbelievable. I just spent a day or two prefilling the forms with the information that I could put in ahead of time. And now come to find out the forms are less than useless. I have exactly Oct 1 and 2 to file my reports before I go on vacation for my son's wedding. Not having access to the forms until 10/1 really cuts down on the time I have to finish the reports. I wonder if federalreporting.gov will bottleneck as we all try to get online to get the forms????

Diana - thank you so much for passing this information on. Just goes to show the value of the colleagues on this list and that we only have ourselves to rely on for timely information.

I just got off a chat with the help desk at FederalReporting.gov. I was told that the excel templates available today are just a model and if we tried to upload them on 10/1 they would be rejected. He said that the "real" templates will not be available until 10/1. Attached is a snapshot of my session with Rick. What do you think??
