New NIH AREA Amounts Newton, Debbie 18 Sep 2009 09:14 EST

I apologize if this is a duplication but I haven't seen anything come
across on it yet...

The information on the NIH Area website
(http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/area.htm) states the following:

The Recovery Act Limited Competition: Academic Research Enhancement
Award (R15) RFA-OD-09-007 maintains the same objectives as the AREA
Program Announcement (PA-06-042), but increases the funding limit to
$300,000 in direct costs for up to three years, and extends eligibility
to institutions that have received no more than $6 million dollars in
funding from the National Institutes of Health. Applications for these
Recovery Act-funded awards must be received by September 24, 2009. A new
Parent AREA R15 Funding Opportunity Announcement will also reflect these
changes beginning with the October 25, 2009 receipt date.

Do you interpret this to mean the new AREA will be for up to $300K as
opposed to $150K? Has anyone heard anything about this?

Thanks,

Deb
