Re: eRA Commons User Name for NRSA Jennifer Lech 17 Nov 2008 11:52 EST

Hi James,

The 416-1 instructions do state that the eRA Commons userid is a required
field on both the Face Page and the applicant's Biosketch. Since NIH has
moved away from sending any post-submission correspondence via paper,
they want to ensure that all applicants have Commons accounts so that they
stay informed about the status of their applications.

There was an NIH Guide notice about this a few years ago when they made
the Commons ID a required field on the 416-1 application. Check out this link
for more info: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-07-
003.html.
