Staff working as both Contract Administrators and Program Coordinators Michelle Wrenn 16 Nov 2008 16:22 EST

I have a staff member who has accepted a position on a program funded by
NCI as a Center Coordinator for 80%. She would like to remain on my staff as
a Sponsored Programs Administrator for the remaining 20%.

Fundamentally, this would mean that 80% of her time would be funded by the
Project and the other 20% would be funded by our Core funding or Indirect. I
am wanting to see if anyone else has been in the this situation. I realize that
there is a general theory that people cannot charge to both Direct and
Indirect but am wondering what you do in situations like this. I am also
wondering if that is a hard and fast rule or if we just need to document her
time carefully to justify this split to the auditors. She would be spending her
20% time doing the same type of work she has been doing for my team but
limited to a few PIs.
