Re: Director of Research job descriptions Margarita M Cardona 09 Sep 2008 19:08 EST

Dave,
The University of Baltimore has about the same student population and extramural funding levels as you describe. I have attached my position description. My office handles both pre- and post-award responsabilities and my direct supervisor is the Provost.
Thanks,
Magui

Subject: [RESADM-L] Director of Research job descriptions

Hello all - my university is splitting the duties of the Director of Graduate Studies and Research into separate categories. I have been asked by the Provost to compile a new job description for the Director of Research position. We are an institution of about 5000 students and we do about $8 million per year in extramural funding. We have a small number of graduate programs where students do research and our faculty are active in research and creative endeavors.

If you have any good language that describe the duties associated with a Director/Dean of Research, I would greatly appreciate it if you would share it with me. Thank you in advance for your help.

Cheers,
Dave McGinnis
