Re: Sponsored Programs software (incl. Banner Grants Module) Christine Rabenda 02 Jul 2008 14:31 EST

I'm a Department level research administrator at UNC-Chapel Hill and have
managed research under both the old paper system and RAMSeS...I have nothing
but positive things to say about RAMSeS and the capabilities. If anyone has
questions from an end-user perspective, feel free to send me an email or
call.

Suzanne (and others who may be interested),

The UNC-Chapel Hill point of contact for inquiries about RAMSeS is Dr. Jim
Peterson, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research (919-966-2542 or
xxxxxx@unc.edu). That's "Jim" underscore "Peterson" at "unc.edu."

Thanks,

Paul

Subject: [RESADM-L] Sponsored Programs software (incl. Banner Grants
Module):

Good morning, all!

Our Business Office has just made the move from FRS to Banner Finance;
meanwhile, our Sponsored Programs office continues to manage all of our
grant-related tracking data on Excel spreadsheets, plus some data entry into
an Advancement-based program called Millennium (which doesn't help us at
all; it's mainly for Advancement's benefit).

I am spearheading an effort to acquire a data management software program
for our office that is specifically made for Sponsored Programs, primarily
for managing our post-award financial data and generating reports. It would
be nice if there was a module for time and effort as well, and it would be a
huge bonus if it were compatible with Banner (though if it weren't, it
wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker).

I would appreciate any feedback from those of you who have a post-award
grants management software program that you really, really like
(Banner-compatible or not) and that you would feel comfortable recommending.
Likewise, if you use a program that you really dislike, I would appreciate
hearing about this as well.

Also, for anyone who actually does use the Banner Grants Module, is this
something you would personally recommend? How well does it interface with
Banner Finance? Does it serve your needs adequately, or do you wish you had
something different?

Please feel free to e-mail me directly if you wish: xxxxxx@otterbein.edu

Thank you in advance for your assistance!
