Post Doctoral Fellow Opening - Geographic Medicine / Infectious Disease Jim Machado 19 Mar 2008 08:17 EST

The Division of Geographic Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical
Center (formerly known as Tufts-New England Medical Center) in Boston, MA
has an immediate opening for a Post Doctoral Fellow. The position will
involve overseeing research in an established laboratory working on
host-pathogen interactions in Lyme disease. The laboratory currently
consists of 4 graduate students and one post-doctoral fellow. Fifty percent
of the successful candidate’s time would be spent on advising and
supervising junior members of the laboratory. The remainder of the time
would be devoted to the candidate’s own projects in a related area. It is
anticipated that the position will transition to full faculty with
independent laboratory space and funding over a 3-year period.

The laboratory’s current areas of interest include the role of the host
innate immune responses to Borrelia burdorferi, mechanisms of environmental
sensing and adaptation by B. burgdorferi and reservoir targeted vaccination
strategies for tick borne diseases. The successful candidate should hold a
Ph.D. and/or M.D., have strong independent research capabilities and a
publication record in international journals. Experience in microbial
pathogenesis, innate immunity, cell signaling or viral vaccine delivery
systems is desirable. Inquiries and a CV should be sent to Dr. Linden Hu,
Vice Chairman, Dept of Medicine at xxxxxx@tufts-nemc.org.
