Re: Grants.gov lead time survey Judy L Bristow 22 Jan 2008 14:33 EST

Jennifer,

While I did not participate in the survey, we at UofL just combined our
deadlines for paper (previously 3 days) and electronic (previously 7
days) to 5 full business days for all proposals. This alleviates the
problem as you state it and reduces confusion of the PI.

A few weeks ago, I posted a request for information on what campuses
require for lead time on Grants.gov & other ERA submissions. Here is
the compiled data. As you might expect, we are all over the map in
what
we require. Our current policy at UMA is to require 4 working days
with
the completed PureEdge file - but we do not have a similar lead time
requirement for any other electronic (or hard copy, for that matter)
proposal. This is causing us some issues because we may have the G.g
proposal for four days, but if each day we get a FastLane (for example)

proposal walking in the door for that day, we must push aside the G.g
proposal. We are working on getting everyone to acknowledge the effect

that has on those investigators who give us the time we need and
require. Discussions are onoing!

Thanks to everyone who responded. Very helpful indeed.
