Off the top of my head, the one thing that you have to worry about is
Export Control. I would speak to whoever at your institution oversees
export (and import) control. Questions that will need to be answered
include: who is the international collaborator and what is the other
institution and country (and are any of them on the US government "black
list"), are materials imported or exported, if so what kinds of
materials, etc.

At our institution, we set up an informal meeting between the PI and
Research Affairs staff to discuss the various aspects of any potential
international project, such as intellectual property issues, export
issues, etc. We have found that this works very well to make sure that
everyone is on the same page and there are no surprises down the line.

Subject: [RESADM-L] NSF International Research Planning Grant

Hello all, I am new to the discussion board. I have not worked on an
application with an international component before. I am assisting a
faculty
member with the NSF International Research Planning Grant application
process. My question is - are there any issues specifically related to
the
international component of the application that I need to be aware of
while
reviewing the application before submission?
