Procedures for destruction of human subject records Brian Anderson 19 Jan 2007 16:28 EST

Here's a Friday afternoon question that's a little out of the ordinary...

We have a grant that ended ten years ago. The study required the
videotaping of geriatric patients, and the data was captured on 200 VCR
tapes. Per the agreement, we are now required to destroy those tapes.

Does anyone have experience with something like this? How do you go about
efficiently destroying 200 VCR tapes, ensuring that EVERYTHING is
destroyed, and thus protecting the confidentiality of all those patients
that were taped?
