Identification of SO Susan Sutherland, Ph.D. 02 Jan 2007 14:19 EST

Dear fellow administrators,

First, let me start by saying that I am a real novice at NIH submissions, and hope that you all will pardon the apparent simplicity of my question.

Our hospital is preparing to submit our first electronic proposal, and we've run into a stumbling block in simply registering at Grants.Gov and eRA commons. There is a discussion among several people as to which hospital-associated entity should be responsible for the application, who should be the signatory official, etc.

The 3-entities are (1) the Hospital itself, (2) the Hospital Foundation, and (3) the Parent company, consisting of multiple hospitals, real estate holdings, investments, etc.

In case it is important, I should mention the research is to be performed in the hospital by hospital employees.

Thanks for sharing your expertise! Please feel free to e-mail off-line if you prefer.
