Re: SF 424 R&R application filing name Robert Beattie 30 Jun 2006 14:44 EST

We use Sponsor initials, grants officer initials, our own UM id
number, PI name
NIH JRR 067890 Jones

I recently wrote to the acting program manager of Grants.gov, John
Etcheverry, asking that the Application Filing Name be included in
each of the response messages from Grants.gov. I think most
universities, at least, have some understandable information in this
field and it would make it much easier to track the messages if this
field were included in the responses. Currently, this field appears
in only the first message. Others who feel this might be helpful
could send a similar message to John Etcheverry via xxxxxx@grants.gov.

I also asked that the Grants.gov tracking number be the first item in
the subject of the response messages. It would then be possible to
sort messages by subject and group all messages for one application
together. For example
00119980 Submission Receipt
00119980 Submission Validation Receipt for Application
00119980 Grantor Agency Retrieval Receipt for Application
00119980 Grantor Agency Tracking Number Assignment for Application

All messages come from xxxxxx@grants.gov so no need to put
Grants.gov in the subject line too.

If anyone has suggestions for improving the Grants.gov process, I
would be interested in learning of these. I would be happy to
compile and present these at the next Federal Demonstration
Partnership meeting.

Has anyone developed a naming scheme for the SF 424 R&R application
