Bob,

At the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus, we have 5 separately
negotiated rates for different employee categories.

37.6% Full-time employees eligible for Full Benefits (50% FTE or more).

13.6% Full-time employees with Limited Benefits (50% FTE or more).
****Post Docs fit into this category****

12.4% Full-time employees without Core Benefits (50% FTE or more) and
Part-Time employees (Less than 50% FTE).

3.0% Graduate Research/Teaching Assistants.

1.9% Other Student Employees.

Subject: [RESADM-L] multiple eb rates

Hello everyone,

At Lehigh University we negotiate two eb rates with ONR, one for all
full time employees and another for part time employees. One of our
faculty is complaining about paying the full time rate for his post-docs
and would like us to eliminate their retirement and medical benefits and
negotiate another rate for this specific group of employees.

I have two questions...

first, what sort of benefits do other schools provide to post-docs
working on research grants?

and second, do other schools negotiate separate eb rates for this group
of employees?

thanks for your help,
Bob Siegfried
