Policies on indirect cost waivers Tara Riemer Jones 17 Feb 2006 00:37 EST

I am looking for examples of policies on indirect cost waivers.

I have found various forms on websites that generally indicate 2
different levels of consideration: 1) the funding agency caps or
doesn't permit indirects, and 2) no such formal limitation by the agency
exists. I have found nothing that says how a decision is made on
category #2. Is this ever done?

And since the most likely situations where PIs would request this second
category of waiver would be for non-federal grant proposals, how do you
stay out of trouble with the feds when making such a waiver? Or is this
why no one publishes how they make these decisions...

Thanks!
Tara
