We have no "requirement," as our experience has taught us that strict
deadlines do not work with our faculty . . . also, until we  have enoughg
external funding that we can afford to not put one through if it arrives
late, we just take them when they get here.

We do, however, kindly request that our faculty work with us so that we are
not bombarded with proposals on the last day before a grant deadline--all
after lunch!  This approach has worked well for us .  . . so we know we'll
have a few last-minute ones, but we will have a lot of them out of the way
earlier.
