GRANTS OFFICER/WRITER

Tidewater Community College invites applications for the position of
Grants Officer. TCC is among the 40 largest community colleges in the
nation, serving over 34,000 credit students annually, with four campuses
and regional visual arts, performing arts, and advanced technology
centers.  TCC is a comprehensive institution offering more than 60
different curricula, including a full complement of college transfer and
occupational/technical education, workforce training and development,
and general community enrichment outreach.

Under the direction of the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs,
the Grants Officer serves as a lead team member in developing and
writing grant proposals to government agencies and private entities in
support of the TCC Strategic Plan Priorities. The Grants Officer is
responsible for researching grant opportunities, writing funding
applications, coordinating grant planning activities, and preparing
final proposals.

Qualification: Qualified candidates will possess:  Demonstrated
experience in writing grant proposals to government and private funding
sources; coordinating grant development teams and collaborative efforts;
researching and identifying funding sources; interpreting requests for
proposals and funding guidelines; and developing budgets.  Knowledge of
effective grant research and grant writing principles; research
techniques and sources for identifying external funding sources;
application of basic federal and state regulations, policy, and
procedures regarding proposal submission;  effective project management
principles.  Skills in designing, writing, and editing complex grant
documents; designing graphs, tables, and timelines; effective use of the
World Wide Web; and operating a computer and supporting software.
Abilities in interpreting  and applying government regulations and
proposal guidelines; leading collaborative teams and partnerships;
working both independently and as part of a team; managing and
prioritizing projects effectively to meet office and proposal deadlines;
working with an ethnically and culturally diverse population; operating
a variety of office equipment; and communicating effectively in oral and
written form.  Master's degree in a related field from an accredited
institution.  Experience with multi-campus institutions and community
colleges preferred.
