Information regarding virus on list yesterday... Mike L. Varney 01 Sep 2004 07:52 EST

The virus on the list yesterday was Download.Ject.C.

This is a new version, added yesterday to virus definition files for
Symantec, of a virus originally discovered back in April (which of course
has an update patch from Microsoft which many likely don't have installed).

Information from Symantec:

Microsoft's information about JECT, along with a nifty web-based detection
and removal tool:

If you are vulnerable to this virus, you should make sure you use
WindowsUpdate to get the latest Windows patches. The patch that fixes this
vulnerability is identified in MS04-013 (
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS04-013.mspx ) which
was released in mid-April 2004.
