I think it is useful to  present a range of increasingly complex scenarios (not
all having to do with research adminsistration) to the class for discussion that
don't necessarily have clear cut solutions, and then ask them to sort them out. I
have used this exercise very successfully with undergraduates. I also recommend
the play "A Man for All Seasons" by Robert Bolt (or the film which is different,
but also excellent) for its perspectives on the role of the administrator. We had
a sparky discussion on that topic after seeing the film in class.
