Children's hospitals & indirect rates Linda Ward 22 Apr 2004 07:06 EST

I'm sending this email to both the RESADM & SECA list servs, so I apologize to those of you who receive it twice!!

We are a children's hospital with understandably low medicare utilization. We do not yet have an indirect rate for research / sponsored projects, but wish to obtain one. I wanted to get some feedback from other children's hospitals before I contact DCA.

How often do you file a full Medicare cost report (not a low utliization c/r)?

Do you file strictly for purposes of indirect reimbursement on research / sponsored projects?

Is annual filing of a Medicare cost report required to obtain an indirect rate?

Any tips you have on obtaining an initial rate would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance for your feedback!!

-Linda
