Attention members regions 6 & 7 Shapiro, Steve 20 Aug 2003 11:59 EST

The NCURA Region 6 & 7 meeting, tentatively scheduled for April 18-21 in San
Francisco, will be featuring an IT (Information Technology) track. We hope
to attract IT personnel to the meeting for the purposes of networking and
information exchange.

As we are now in the planning stages of this conference, we would like to
get some ideas as to what types of presentations would be of most value.
The track will be divided into 3 sections:

1) IT to IT: presentations and roundtable discussions focused on IT issues

2) IT to Admin: presentations and roundtable discussions focused on helping
administrators (SPA's) get the most out of their technology.

3) IT and Administrator Collaboration: presentations and discussions
focused on opening communication between administrators and IT professionals
working in the grants and contracts arena.

Please review an outline of possible presentations suggested to date.

Then please fill out the survey at http://orsa.uoregon.edu/NCURA. Completing
the survey does not commit you in any way. At this time, we are seeking to
stimulate and gauge interest in an IT session, and determine which topics
would be of most interest to potential participants.

Grant Administration used to be done on paper, multiple copies of multiple
copies. We are now moving toward electronic administration via computers
for proposal preparation, transmission, review and administration. Hence,
more and more programmers, data-analysts and system analysts are becoming
involved in grant administration, and more administrators have to learn how
to effectively use their computers to do their job.

Thank you
