Diane, was the internal award a fellowship to the individual?  That is
the only way the material items would leave Radford, a state university
in Virginia.  Items purchased by the university would belong to the
university unless otherwise specified in a grant proposal, etc.   Janet

Hello;
We are beginning to offer internal research initiation funds for faculty
to purchase materials, equipment etc. conduct pilot research projects.
A question has arisen pertaining to the owner of the material/equipment.
If the purchase is not a consumable and the researcher leaves the
University, whose property is it.  I am interested in knowing what
policies have been developed at other institutions.  Thank you
