Dear Resadm-l'ers,

Like nearly everyone else on the internet, I am plagued with junk mail
messages and have used the various filters to get rid of the majority of it.
But occasionally, a legitimate message gets caught in the screening and gets
directed to my "deleted" folder. Some of these messages are pretty important
(i.e., come from my boss, have details on a grant budget I need to know
about, etc.). Since our organization uses Outlook, I was pretty sure the
program's filtering criteria were the culprit, and I finally found an
article which explains why. If you examine the list of things that can get
email flagged as junk (see
http://office.microsoft.com/Assistance/9798/newfilters.aspx), you'll see why
it can be a problem for anyone dealing with budgets, offers, proposals, etc.
For example, just including the dollar sign, three zeroes and two
exclamation points in the body of a single message is enough to get it
automatically deleted from my inbox.
