Performance measures F. John Case 03 Mar 2001 13:07 EST

Hello all,

We are currently trying to put together performance standards for the
finance and administration areas of campus. One of the areas is
research administration. I need the following information:

1) Does anyone have performance standards for any research
administration function (proposal review, negotiation, account set-up,
invoicing, cash management, reporting, and asset management)? Examples
of performance standards are 1) review and process all proposals within
1 business day and 2) invoicing on all projects is current and there are
no outstanding receivables over 30 days.

2) In relationship to this, does anyone have any performance measures to
monitor these standards?

3) Lastly, does anyone have any "production measures" (e.g. # of
proposals or financial reports processed by each staff member)?

I haven't heard of many institutions with these in place, especially for
research administration. BUT, I do need some help and information from
my peers. Any information or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Have a good day!

John
