Re: F & A Allocations for Interdisplinary Proposals David Hollingsworth 04 May 2000 08:48 EST
The Texas Engineering Experiment Station retains the F&A costs, but we do
have a system that provides for distribution of a research incentive to the
PIs and departments invloved in a proposal. The dollar amount of the
research incentive distribution is based on a amount equivalent to the F&A
earned on the project. PIs receive an amount equivalent to 16% of the F&A.
Divisions/departments involved receive a total of 59%. TEES administration
retains 25%.

We have an incentive distribution form that is routed and signed off at the
proposal routing stage. Normally the split of incentive between divisions
is determined by the amount of F&A generated on each department's budget,
but this can be negotiated between departments. We prepare separate
internal budgets for each division/department involved so that they can see
the amount of F&A generated by their division. Attached is a copy of the
incentive form and a worksheet where we show the split.
